Happy, Grateful 4th of July, 2014
Wow, it is the 3rd of July and it will barely get into the 70’s in a most of the mid-west today! This holiday more than most reminds me of the patriotism of my late father. He was the son of a communist, was a veteran and never failed to fly the flag every day and never failed to take off his hat and sing the National Anthem. Of course this is like a lot of our fathers who were part of the “greatest generation.”
Tomorrow we will over eat, drink and be merry. We will say a prayer before we eat just like he did and we will be grateful for the freedom we enjoy in this great country. We will talk politics, sports, family and memories. Wow what a country! Many at my table will recall and laugh as I quote him… “I wonder what the rich folk are doing today?”
